Language
The official language spoken in Panama is Spanish. Spanish was introduced to the country during the colonial period when the country was under Spanish rule. Today, it serves as the primary language of communication for the majority of the population.
Currency
In Panama, the present currency is the American dollar, in most cases you can pay with your credit card. They also have a local currency, that is the Panamanian Balboa (PAB), which has the same value and is pegged to the United States Dollar (USD). However, the Balboa is only available in coin form, while the US Dollar is used for paper currency and everyday transactions. Both currencies are widely accepted throughout the country, and prices are often displayed in both Balboas and US Dollars.
Kitchen
Panamanian cuisine is a flavourful blend of indigenous, African, Spanish, and Caribbean influences. These are some popular local dishes: Sancocho, Carimañolas, Bollos & Mofongo.
Best travel time in Panama
Panama can generally be visited all year round, but if you want to avoid the rainy season, it is best to visit between January and April. In contrast, the rainy season is the time when nature is at its most beautiful and all the plants and flowers are in bloom. Moreover, during the dry season, you can also just have days when there are only tropical rainstorms, it is an average over the years. Similarly, you can have only sunny days during the rainy season.
