My Story: How my slow journey began

¡Hola a todos! I am Doris Leone, and the world of Mundo Leone began from a simple need to slow down. During my travels, I discovered that the essence of travelling is not about ticking off a checklist or rushing around, but rather about really getting to know the destination. Making deep connections with the country by getting to know the locals and letting the destination determine the itinerary. This conviction is why I founded this slow travel blog and created a space that embodies my personal philosophy, all reflected in what you read here about Mundo Leone.

The Mundo Leone Philosophy: Slow Down, Experience More

Growing up in sunny Southern Andalusia, Spain, was an amazing experience; with its vibrant culture and rich history, it is no wonder I fell head over heels for travel. Later, moving back to the Netherlands helped me appreciate the charm of home, which is why you will find plenty of love for Dutch gems here! My mission is to always meet locals to experience the purest of the country, guided by core values of respect for people, animals and nature. This slow travel philosophy means an open-minded view of what our beautiful world has to offer, focusing on authentic travel and creating memories for life.

What is behind the name Mundo Leone?

The name is simple and reflects my two homes: Mundo means ‘world’ in Spanish, and Leone is my second name. As Doris happens to end in ‘do,’ Mundo Leone was born! It represents my lifelong journey to explore the world with a personal and open heart.
