Language Greece
The official language spoken in Greece is Greek, which belongs to the Hellenic branch of the Indo-European language family. Greek is one of the world’s oldest recorded languages and has a rich literary and cultural heritage dating back thousands of years. Greek is written using the Greek alphabet, which consists of 24 letters. It is a phonetic alphabet, meaning each letter represents a specific sound, making Greek relatively easy to pronounce once the alphabet is learned.
Currency
In Greece, the currency is the euro (€). The euro is the official currency of most European Union countries. Since the 1st of January in 2002, the Euro has been the legal currency in Greece.
Kitchen
Greek cuisine is known for its delicious and wholesome dishes that reflect the country’s rich history and diverse landscapes, and I cannot get enough of it. Some of my favourite dishes are: Moussaka, Pastitsio, Pita Gyros with Tzatziki & Spanakopita.
Best travel time in Greece
The ideal time to travel to Greece depends on your preferences. Spring offers mild weather and vibrant landscapes adorned with colourful flowers, perfect for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring archaeological sites with lesser tourists. Summer marks the peak tourist season with hot temperatures, ideal for beach vacations and island hopping. Autumn provides warm temperatures and fewer crowds, allowing for enjoyable outdoor activities and the chance to witness the beautiful transition to autumn colours, particularly in September when the sea remains warm and tourist attractions are less crowded. Winter is mild along the coast and islands, with lively cultural events in cities like Athens, making it an ideal time to explore archaeological sites and enjoy outdoor activities. Ultimately, the best time to visit Greece depends on your preferences for weather, crowd levels, and activities.
